Can't Wait Wednesday...No Big Deal

09:00

Can't Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings where you showcase an upcoming book that you are looking forward to.

I really enjoyed doing my first Can't Wait Wednesday last week so, I'm going to make this  a weekly thing.

The book I am showcasing today is...No Big Deal by Bethany Rutter

Meet Emily Daly, a stylish, cute, intelligent and hilarious seventeen-year-old about to start her last year at school. Emily is also fat. She likes herself and her body. When she meets Joe at a house party, he instantly becomes The Crush of Her Life. Everything changes. At first he seems perfect. But as they spend more time together, doubts start to creep in.

With her mum trying new fad diets every week, and increasing pressure to change, Emily faces a constant battle to stay strong, be her true self and not change for anyone.
A warm, funny inspiring debut YA novel from Bethany Rutter: influencer, editor and a fierce UK voice in the debate around body positivity.

I am always looking for more books that feature body positivity and because of that reason I cannot wait to read No Big Deal. It sounds like the perfect, feel good read that will inspire many young people to love their bodies no matter what. I have an ARC of this which I'm going to be starting soon and I am really excited.

  1. This looks so cute and touching too. There aren’t a lot if body positive books out there that showcase a bigger girl. This is going on my TBR. Though more are starting to be published. I read Dumplin and the Summer of Jordi Perez. Still have To be Honest on my TBR. Thank you for sharing

  3. I agree there should be more books like this about. Too many people are after that picture perfect instant Instagram look, that actually takes weeks of photoshopping.... well, maybe not weeks, but you get the gist!

Here's my WOW. Happy Hump Day!

  4. I have struggled with my weight for years, and so it is nice to see books that promote body positivity. Especially when I look at my young daughter. She's a dancer, but isn't thin like so many. I worry about the pressure she will be under as she gets older if she continues to dance, and only hope that my efforts to help her build a strong sense of self and love of her body will help weather some of that. Anyhow, you didn't want to read all that. 😊 I love the sound of this book and am adding it to my wish list.
