Thank you to the author for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review and for allowing me to be part of this blog tour.

The price of freedom is always paid in blood.

The sovereigns of the Silver have awakened, but the Queen is a fractured shell of the woman Cam remembers. He hopes to put her back together by finding her son, the missing prince. At least, that’s what he tells his friends when he leaves for the Red.

Back in the Blue, Julia’s old tormentor Rufus is hounding her at every turn. She’s sick of feeling powerless, but she has a plan that will bring the Nobles to their knees.
All she needs is blood.

The Blood Prince is the final book in Josie Jaffrey’s Sovereign trilogy, set in a dystopian Europe where vampiric Nobles control the last remnants of the human race.

Thoughts

The Sovereign series is a series that I have devoured and loved over the past few months, so it was no surprise that I was going to dive into the third and final book The Blood Prince as soon as possible. This Vampiric trilogy has slowly become one of my favourites and I'll admit I was a bit sad when I finished the final page of The Blood Prince.

The Blood Prince kicks off where The Silver Queen ended. The silver sovereigns search for their long lost son begins and Cameron is determined to go into the Red, find him and bring him home no matter what, all whilst coming up with a plan that will change the world as he knows it. Meanwhile back in the Blue, Julia is being hounded by old tormentor, Rufus. Sick of feeling useless, Julia has a plan that will bring all nobles down. All she needs is some contaminated blood.

The Blood Prince has slower pacing to it then the first two books, The Gilded King and The Silver Queen and it does take a while for the action to hit you. Some could see this as a disappointment, but not me. The slow pacing gave me more time to savour this last instalment and spend more time with characters that I have come to love. When the action hits you it's a big surprise and one that I was glad to have.

Josie's world building is next to none and The Blood Prince is no exception. I feel that I got to find out more about the Red and the Blue in this book and it helped tie up all the unanswered questions I had about this world. The writing is so vivid and magical that it instantly pulls you in and you just want to carry on reading more and more.

Like the first two books The Blood Prince is told through the dual POV of Julia and Cameron. The alternating views of both of these characters is something that I have loved across the whole series and this didn't change when reading The Blood Prince. It was great to see them communicating more in this book and you do start to see a firm friendship forming between them both.

Julia's character development throughout the series has been outstanding and in this book you see her really come into her own and become the heroine you always knew she could be. She's fierce, powerful, determined and just an all round bad ass female character. I'll admit though that I didn't care all too much for her relationship with Lucas in The Blood Prince. She treated him rather unfairly and I don't feel like it added all too much to the plot. Cameron has always been one of my favourite characters throughout the series and was a joy to read about. His love for Felix just melted my heart and I now ship Cameron/Felix forever!

The Blood Prince was a thrilling end to a trilogy that I have loved from the very beginning. The unique world that Josie Jaffrey has created will stick with me for a very long time. If you want an adrenaline inducing, heart stopping trilogy about vampiric nobles in a dystopian setting this trilogy is the one for you!
