Mid-Year Freakout Tag

I can't believe it's July already! I mean where is 2018 going!?

I've seen these tag on a few blogs and although I haven't been tagged to do it I still thought I'd give it a go. Will also be good to be able to look back on my reading for the first part of 2018.

Have you done this tag? Link me and I'll check them out!

1) The best book you've read this year?

This was a tough question as I've read many amazing books so far this year, but, I had to go for Children of Blood and Bone. It just wowed me straight away and I couldn't get enough of it! I am desperate for book two!

2) The best sequel you've read this year?

It obviously had to be Thunderhead. I am obsessed with the Arc of a Scythe series and this was the perfect sequel to Scythe. Although the ending broke me...

3) New releases you haven't read yet but want to.

Eve of Man, Legendary and Hero at the Fall are all new releases that I am dying to get into! I am hoping to get reading all of them at some point in the next few months.

4) Most anticipated releases for the second half of the year?

When the Curtain Falls and Ascension are both releases that I am really excited about!

5) Biggest Disappointment

I was really excited to read It Only Happens In The Movies but it wasn't what I'd expected. I found it to be so cliche, cheesy and I just couldn't connect with any of the characters. If it hadn't been a read for my YA book club I probably would have DNF.

6) Biggest Surprise

As this was my first time reading a Sally Green novel I wasn't really sure what to expect from The Smoke Thieves. I ended up loving it! I cannot wait for the sequel.

7) Favourite new to you, or debut author

C.G. Drews. A Thousand Perfect Notes just blew me away! It was utter perfection. The story itself broke me and a lot of tears were shed, but, I also fell in love with her writing style and way of storytelling. I am excited to see what she writes next.

8) Newest fictional crush.

Robert Cardew from A Sky Painted Gold. There was just something about him...

9) Newest favourite characters

Scythe Curie and Scythe Faraday a.k.a Mummy and Daddy Scythe! I ship it...so hard!

10) Book that made you cry?

The Weight of a Thousand Feathers had me sobbing..a lot. If you've read it you'll know what I mean.

11) Book that made you happy?

Bookshop Girl. This was just a real funny, feel good read that had me grinning from ear to ear. The fact that it was about a bookshop just made it even better.

12) Favourite book to film adaptation?

The only book to film adaptation I have seen this year is The Death Cure and it was pretty epic!

13) Favourite post you've done this year?

There are a few. I really loved creating my playlist for the Children of Blood and Bone blog tour and I also adored my review of Floored.

14) Most beautiful book you've brought this year?

The Queens of Innis Lear. The hardback edition is just absolutely stunning!

15) What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

Oh god..too many! I haven't even counted how many books are on my TBR as I'm terrified!

I'm not going to tag anyone but if you want to do it feel free!

  1. I've just started reading Thunderhead, hopefully I'll like it just as much as you did. I hadn't heard of A Sky Painted Gold before but I just checked it up there now and it sounds really interesting, I also really like the cover of it! :)
