It's Monday! What Are You Reading? #5

Hosted by The Book DateIt's Monday! What Are You Reading? Is a weekly meme where you share what you have recently read, what you are currently reading and what is up next on your TBR list. Few good ones on the list this week. Also, I apologise for the lack of posts that were up last week. I moved back home from uni and needed to sort a few things out.

Read Last Week

Read two books last week. One I couldn't finish and one I really enjoyed and discussed at my first ever YA book club. Can you guess which one is which? No? Well I'll tell you. Despite trying my hardest I just could not get on with Raven Song. I tried so hard to persevere and read on but it just wasn't happening. I hate not finishing books  I wasn't enjoying it and didn't want to read something I knew I wasn't getting on with.

Ink on the other hand I loved reading. I won't give much away but the concept behind it was really intriguing and drew me in. It did start off quite slow and I was worried I wasn't going to like it. However after 100 pages or so the story really kicked off and I was slightly hooked. This was also one of the books we were reading for the YA bookclub I am a part of and it was fab being able to discuss it. There will be a review up of this in the next few days.

Currently Reading

As well as going to a YA bookclub I am also joining a regular adult bookclub and Hot Milk is the book they are reading ahead of the next meeting on 3rd July. I'm not very far into it but it is certainly not what I would usually read. It does look promising though so I am hoping to have some positive things to discuss when I finish it.

Up Next

Someone mentioned The Wrath & The Dawn at the YA bookclub and from their positive comments I knew I had to pick it up. It's basically a retelling of Arabian Nights and I'm really looking forward to delving into it.

  1. Where do you find your book clubs? I'm living in a new place and think book clubs would give me a much needed social outlet. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  2. Enjoy your books. The move is really happening. We have temporary housing squared away and most of our home library in storage now. Come see what I'm reading this week.
