Top Five Friday: Book to Film Adaptations

It's Friday which means that it's time for another Top Five Friday. I've really been enjoying doing these and thinking of what top five to share next. This week it's all about my top five book to film adaptations. I love when some of my favourite books are made into films. It gives me a chance to see some of my favourite stories come alive on the big screen. However some are better than others and this is what I want to share today.

5) Paper Towns

I love everything to do with John Green and his books. Paper Towns is my second favourite book of his and I was really excited when I found out it was being made into a film. I loved the story and I was hooked on the book when reading so I was intrigued to see how it would be in film form. I didn't get to see it in the cinema and had to wait till the DVD came out, but as soon as I got it I dived straight in. I certainly wasn't disappointed! The plot was basically the same as the book and the casting was perfect. Cara Delevingne was the perfect Margo and Nat Wolff as Q made my heart soar. I also loved Ansel Elgort's cameo appearance.

4) The Perks of Being a Wallflower

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is an amazing read, and although I didn't discover it before the film came out I knew I had to watch it as soon as I'd finished the book. I thought the film was truly breathtaking and just like the book it had me in tears at times. I loved how it stayed true to the book and the cast were excellent. It was weird seeing Emma Watson in a role other than Hermione but I think she nailed the part of Sam and Ezra Miller basically stole the show in his role as Patrick.

3) The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2

This is technically two films but it is based on one book, so it's exempt. Mockingjay was my favourite book in The Hunger Games trilogy and it's always good to watch a finale of a series. These two films had the action that you'd expect from The Hunger Games and it was rather emotional in parts. I've loved Jennifer Lawrence all throughout the films but I think she stepped it up a notch in Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2, she was phenomenal!  Yes, it was a tad different to the book but it didn't change the fact that I was on the edge of my seat throughout both films. Oh and I'll also admit, I cried a lot.

2) The Fault in our Stars

Another John Green book to film adaptation has made it onto the list and I couldn't care less! As you may or may not know The Fault in our Stars is one of my favourite books of all time so you can imagine my excitement when I found out there was going to be a film version of it. I was that excited that I went and saw it on release day and I came out of the cinema an emotional mess. The film just like the book reduced me to tears. It was utter perfection from the moment it started. It was exactly like the book and the dialogue was practically the same. The casting was brilliant and it somehow started off my slight obsession with Ansel Elgort.

1) Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone

Obviously a Harry Potter film was going to be on this list and what better one than the one that started it all. I was eight when this came out and although I had read the book I was still amazed at seeing Harry's world come to life on the big screen. It was simply wonderful and I remember being taken aback at how brilliant it was. I loved the magic, the cast, the effects and I still do to this very day. I also love watching it and seeing a young Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. I grew up with Harry Potter and I will always keep it close to my heart.

Stayed tuned for another Top Five Friday next week!
